Along the waterways:
Cassano d'Adda, Crespi d'Adda, Milano, Lecco
Lombardy region offers a wealth of waterways, both natural and artificial, which form the backbone of the regional cycle network. The theme of water plays a central role and revolves around the Naviglio Martesana, said to have been designed by Leonardo Da Vinci and built within a few years at the end of the 15th century by Francesco Sforza. Today, this artificial canal is still fully functional, with mainly irrigation functions. Cassano d'Adda will therefore be the starting and finishing point for all cycling tours that have water as their common thread.
Discover Cassano d'Adda
Cassano d'Adda is a real treasure to explore. The purpose of this cycling tour is to bring to light the ‘excellence’ of a little-known and little-appreciated town. Nothing is missing here: art, architecture, history, nature and waterways. The cycling tour will follow a loop, with the starting point at B&B Casa Sara. Afterwards, two of the most iconic and majestic architectural monuments will be reached: the Villa Borromeo and the Castello Visconteo. The tour will continue with a stop at the Isola Borromeo Public Park, where adults and children can relax and play while enjoying the spectacular panorama offered by the River Adda. Finally, the tour will end with a visit to the ‘Rudun’, the large water wheel designed by Leonardo da Vinci.

Discover Crespi d'Adda
This particular cycling tour, starting in Cassano d'Adda, will take you to the beautiful Crespi d'Adda. Crespi d'Adda is the extraordinary story of a true ideal town of work, a small feud where the master's castle was a symbol of both authority and benevolence towards workers and their families. Crespi d'Adda is a UNESCO World Heritage site, an exceptional piece of history that is not just a monument: Crespi is an inhabited UNESCO site! Even today, all the houses in the village are inhabited by a community still mostly composed of the descendants of the original workers of the historic textile factory. The tour will take you to the iconic entrance of the Crespi d'Adda cotton mill, through the streets of the workers' village, dotted with pretty terraced houses and imposing cottages once inhabited by workers and managers, to the majestic cemetery.

Cassano d'Adda-Milano
The itinerary follows the Naviglio Martesana cycle path, departing from Cassano d'Adda, arriving in Milan in Piazza del Duomo and returning to Cassano d'Adda along the same route. The itinerary offers the possibility of discovering the most significant tourist sites in Milan, without neglecting the scenic beauties along the Naviglio Martesana, consisting of parks, historic villas and ancient nuclei of significant beauty. It is exciting to experience the slow but gradual change from a scarcely urbanised environment where the Naviglio is preponderant with respect to the surrounding built environment, to a highly urbanised environment, typical of a metropolitan city.
Cassano d'Adda - Lecco
The itinerary follows the Naviglio Martesana cycle path and the Adda cycle path, departing from Cassano d'Adda, arriving in Lecco on the Como lakefront and returning to Cassano d'Adda along the same route. The route is reserved for those tourists who enjoy cycling in contact with nature, in an environment immersed in the silence and rustling of the water, amidst the lights and shadows of the lakeside vegetation, without neglecting the architectural and industrial archaeological surprises and the constant presence of the genius of Leonardo Da Vinci. Continuing towards Concesa is the hydraulic barrage that gives life to the Naviglio Martesana; in this locality it is possible by means of a footbridge to cross the Adda and reach the Worker's Village of Crespi d'Adda, a Unesco World Heritage Site.
